How to Clean Your Driveways

Beautiful, well maintained driveways, in front of many houses, give them a picturesque view. However, they come with a pre-loaded condition! They should be clean and well-kept for the effect you require from them. It would be a pleasure for you to drive out or drive in when the driveway clean and tidy . Cleaning your driving alleys is, however, not an easy job. While the task can be tiresome, a little use of grey matter would make the job easier than you might think.

The Best Methods to Clean Your Driveways

Weed them out

Some of us really tend to bang our heads when we see unwanted weeds growing from cracks and fissures in our parkways. To keep your driveway spick-and-span you need to weed those out. Relax; we are not telling you to sit and pull each one out manually. There is a simpler way. Dissolve about a cup of salt in a bucket of boiling water. Pour it on the weeds to kill them. Later, once you have cleaned the whole parkway, sprinkle some salt on the cracks to prevent them from growing back again.

Broom work

Get hold of a hard bristled broom, and sweep the pathways at least twice a month. Of course you could do it once a month too, but that would require you to put in a lot more effort as the parkways would be dirtier. Small strokes of the broom should keep it clean of dust and dried leaves.

Wash off

Put in about a cup and a half of washing soda in a pail of warm water and stir it well with a wooden stick. Next, take a small mug and splash some water on the driveway and with the help of a hard bristled scrubber, scour the dirt off the entire place. After you have got rid of the tough stains, you must spill a few buckets of water to wash off the parkway.

Spray clean

Use a hosepipe to spray clean your parkways on alternate days. This is a ready to use and easy way to keep your parkway clean, everyday. The lack of time in this busy age prevents a lot of people from cleaning with this method regularly. A spray clean does not work well if you are adopting this method once in two weeks. In that case you also need to sweep the area before spray cleaning.

Removing Oily Stains from Your Driveway

Clean the grease

Sometimes, old marks that were neglected become very difficult to do away with. Marks left by oil or other greasy substance are also ugly and they are hard to remove. Oil stains are difficult to remove as they do not just away with the water that you use to wash your driveways. For such stains use your kitchen cleaners, which work wonders for the tough ones. Follow the instructions on how to use the cleaners and you are ready to have a clean parkway in no time at all.
